Light of Enlightenment

One of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, Diwali symbolizes the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance”. Diwali also known as deepawali is  the festival of lights which is widely celebrated across various religions in India. It is considered a time to renovate houses and let the old things out the house, and fill the house with newness. There is a sense of happiness and joy everywhere with houses decorated with diyas ,lanterns and rangolis. On occasion of Diwali people gift each other variety of gifts from sweets to electronic gadgets and pray for each others prosperous and healthy life. There is light and happiness everywhere. But beyond all the celebration how many of us actually introspect and try to overcome the evils and implement good virtues in our life. We clean our houses and workplaces but not many of us clean our hearts and let dust of negativity, evil thoughts out of it. It is sometimes difficult to overcome evils, but just as a small ‘Diya’ makes it’s contribution in defeating the darkness likewise even a small effort can make many changes in our life and help us to be a better person. It’s not very difficult to overcome the evils. If lighting  numerous ‘diyas’ can help us light the whole house then numerous small efforts to be better person can help us lighting our life.

Every year we spent thousands of rupees on firecrackers and burning them gives us a lot of thrill and joy. But all the firecrackers just help in increasing the pollution which is eventually destroying our nature. Instead even if we give half the money to someone really needs it, that can help the person to bring light in his life. Who otherwise would have remained in darkness. In India there are many people who are deprived from the light of education and stay in the darkness of illiteracy, by providing education to a person we not only guide the person towards knowledge but his whole family towards a enlightened life. All the celebration, burning crackers, decorations give us momentary happiness. But helping someone, to be someone’s light of enlightenment gives us eternal sense of happiness and satisfaction which could never be experienced elsewhere. Giving others happiness will only multiply happiness in our life. This Diwali let us bring light in life of others by being always there for people who need us, in our life by overcoming the evils and encouraging the good in us , in our society by spreading knowledge over fatuousness. Let’s fill colours in life of people for whom life as became colourless. This Diwali let as be light of enlightenment in true sense.

Is sucide an option ?

Ya correct I got the idea of writing on this topic because of Suhant Singh Rajput’s sucide case. In this article I won’t be particularly speaking about his sucide, but will express my thoughts on ‘why do people even consider suicide as an option?’

First of all I want to share some stats:-

  1. In last 5 years, 40,000 students have committed sucide. 85% of them were preparing for IIT JEE and NEET. (Most of them form Kota, Rajasthan.)
  2. Annually 135,000 people form age group 15-29 commit sucide in India.
  3. Annually 800,000 people commit sucide worldwide, out of which 20% belong to India.

The numbers in above stats may seem shocking and unbelievable, but they show us the bitter reality of our society. These  stats tell us how drastically our Education system is failing to provide students with basic values of life.

Those 40,000 students committed sucide because they were taught that  your AIR rank will decide your future. Which is completely false. For  students preparing for JEE or NEET, getting into IIT college or AIIMS is the only purpose of their life. And when they fail to achieve that purpose, they lose their self-confidence and stop believing in themselves. Our system has made us believe that marks and rank decide our future. We have a great example of this, Sonam Wangchuk. Sonam Wangchuk has started a college for students who fail in 10th grade. Only condition to get into this college is, the student should have failed in 10th grade. Yes exactly opposite to the criteria used by any other college. Students who graduated from this college are doing good in their life. Because practical knowledge is more importance in that College. Their marks are not limiting their success.

We should be taught more about real life skills, which will make us more equip to live our life independently. In most of the other countries practical knowledge is given more importance than theoretical knowledge. In our life marks, good job ,success do matter but not as much as living a happy life. In our life what matters the most is life itself. Then why should we even think of ending our life because of  any question? We should Always remember that, things never go so wrong that they can’t be corrected. It may take time but you will always get out of difficult times. Many people keep comparing their lives with other, and consider that only they go through difficult times. But in reality everyone goes through difficult times, but those who persist and work hard over come it. But those who think that their destiny was to fail, at last end their life thinking life wasn’t fair to them. But actually they didn’t value the life they had. Nothing is destinied. It’s just another excuse to get rid of everything. There are many ways to a destination, yours may not be the easiest but can be the best. Never give anything more importance than your life. Always share your problems with your parents. Their advice at times can be wrong but their intentions would never be. Whenever you start feeling that your life is tough, just think about physically or mentally challenged people. Do you live a tougher life than they live?  They may have many weaknesses but their biggest strength is the HOPE to live. Never lose hope, keep believing in yourself. Life will always  find a way out.

According to survey done by oxford university, 79% of teenagers are not able to communicate properly. Why teenagers are not able to communicate properly? One of the main reasons is that, the rate of virtual communication is increasing and the rate of direct communication is decreasing. Virtual communication means, a communication which is done by using different social media handles like Instagram, WhatsApp, etc. When it comes to chatting every teenagers becomes a experienced stenographer of supreme court. They are extremely skilled in typing messages. But when it comes to speak publically, they fail. If in a job interview you are asked a question of which you don’t know the answer, confidently saying,” Sir, I don’t know the answer” can create a difference.
